Award-winning Director of Photography Jendra Jarnagin is best known for
her vast digital cinema expertise and is an in-demand panelist, speaker
and instructor all over the world. Jendra is always experimenting with new
cameras and techniques and was among the first DPs in the world to shoot
with the Red One camera, as well as the very first digital cinema camera, the
Viper Filmstream. With over 18 years of professional shooting, Jendra is also
experienced in Stereoscopic 3D, extensive Visual Effects, and all film formats
including Vista Vision.
Jendra was interviewed by American Cinematographer magazine for her work
on the Webby Award winning series Puppy Love, from the writers and producers
of Sex & the City, on which Jendra formerly worked as an electrician. The show
stars Famke Janssen, Kristen Johnson, Ally Sheedy, Dan Hedaya, and many TV
veterans. Other notable projects include the multi-award winning feature film Split
Ends, directed by Emmy winner Dorothy Lyman and starring Vincent Pastore as
well as episodic television such as Yeni Bastan, (aka: Green Card,) a prime time
drama for FOX Turkey and the half-hour comedy pilot, StartUP! She has also
shot dozens of commercials, promos, music videos and short films. Jendra has
spent most of the last six months traveling the world shooting documetaries in
countries such as Papua New Guinea, Tanzania, Haiti, South Africa and India.
Jendra began shooting at the age of twelve as a member of a public access
youth program, and by age fifteen knew her calling in life was to be a
cinematographer. She attended NYU film school, and mastered the craft of
lighting while working as a gaffer and electrician for nearly a decade while
continuing to build her DP career. Jendra is married to Steadicam/Camera
Operator Alec Jarnagin. She is based in NY and LA and international travel is
her passion second only to filmmaking. Jendra's work has brought her to nearly
30 countries on all continents other than Antarctica.
